Another week, another update (week 3)
English cert.
Time really is flying by. It is ridiculous… Anyways, I’m back with a weekly update. I got my results from Cambridge English and I passed my B2 exam. For some reason I’m not particularly excited about it. I’m glad that I’ve passed but I’m not really happy or excited. I’m actually a little unhappy that I didn’t qualify for C1 by 6 points. On the other hand I passed with no preparation, so I guess I should be happy at least about that LOL. The grading system is kinda weird. Or at least the results I’ve got. IIRC I had almost maximum points in speaking and lowest in writing/use of English. For me this doesn’t make a lot of sense since I spend most of my time writing in English and only speaking that I do is in my head. Frankly I’m not surprised about the “use of English part” because I know I kinda struggle with forming cohesive sentences in text. In other words; it is easier for me to speak rather than write. Sharp tongue, dull fingers or something like that…
My progress with Blender
As I mentioned in my previous post, I started learning Blender. I’ve been following this amazing tutorial by Blender Guru on how to make a donut. It is a series that guides you through the process of making a realistic model of a donut, while teaching you the fundamentals of Blender. So far the model of 30 minutes a day worked fantastically. It was really easy to follow this mental model of “It’s just 30 minutes. Let’s get it over with.”. 3D modeling might really be something that I will finally stick to. The software feels very intuitive and Blender Guru is very patient and explains everything very clearly.
This is my progress so far
WordPress, Ghost, Hugo
Next week I might switch to something different than Hugo. I started this blog with Ghost. It was perfect except for a few things that kinda bugged me. So I switched to Hugo which is a SSG (Static Site Generator) and that fixed it but also introduced new issues. The main one is that I have to regenerate the whole site after creating a new blog post. This wouldn’t be a huge issue but for the sake updating everything properly I have to delete the whole website and reupload it again. I’m considering WordPress because it would solve 2 of my biggest headaches; better way of uploading new content, better SEO optimization and a more convenient text editor. I don’t mind doing everything in VIM but it’s not as flexible as an online editor.
